Meghan Markle’s wedding with Prince Harry, the son of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana, British royalties and personalities were in the same venue as American personalities, celebrities, and Hollywood A-listers. Markle was a television actress before she came into the British royal family. This blog will feature her life before royalty.
- Meghan started acting at an early age
- She was a "Deal Or No Deal" briefcase presenter
- She's best friends with Priyanka Chopra even before her wedding
- She has an estranged half-sister who calls her "social climber"
- She's a fan of the British royal family
She walked down the aisle with a pure white three-quarter-sleeve gown framing her shoulders and emphasizing her waist. The haute couture dress from designer and Givenchy artistic director Claire Waight Keller is from a double-bonded silk cady that an underskirt cushions in triple silk organza.
Her veil will go down history books as one of the most unique wedding dresses ever worn in recent memory. It represented the Commonwealth countries, the California poppy to offer tribute to her home state which is California, and a Kensington Palace flower, wintersweet.
It was a different style from that of Catherine Duchess of Cambridge. Markle was raised in Los Angeles and became popular for her role in the USA Network series, “Suits.” The character she portrayed, Rachel Zane, was a paralegal promoted to being an attorney. Indeed, she had a different life before royalty.
Recently, Markle became the headline of news outfits and media organizations across the U.S., U.K., and globally. It’s a conversation that has shocked several groups, gossiping over her future in the royal family and one that deserves perhaps a cup of tea.
On January 8th, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle, who is also a mother to eight-month-old Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, announced on social media their decision to “step back” as senior members of the British royal family. It’s dubbed as the “Megxit,” coined from the “Brexit” decision. It signified that they will separate from the royal family and formal royal protocol.
Queen Elizabeth II is of course involved and journalists say she is once again in the role of crisis management. She said in her official statement:
“Today my family had very constructive discussions on the future of my grandson and his family. My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family. Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.”
“Harry and Meghan have made clear that they do not want to be reliant on public funds in their new lives,” she added. “It has therefore been agreed that there will be a period of transition in which the Sussexes will spend time in Canada and the UK. These are complex matters for my family to resolve, and there is some more work to be done, but I have asked for final decisions to be reached in the coming days.”
What's Meghan Markle's life before royalty?
Markle was already a “princess” before she married her husband, Prince Harry, at least in the eyes of the Hollywood industry personalities. She started being in front of the camera and in the entertainment industry ever since she was a child. She had a role on the set of “Married… With Children” and did this work each day after school for 10 years. It was mostly from her father’s wishes. At the age of 11, she starred in a TV commercial that promoted a dish soap.
It was from the company Procter & Gamble who had the tagline, “Women all over American fighting greasy pots and pans.” In college, she was touted as a “theater nerd,” since she also had a double-major in theater and international studies. It’s also true that she was a briefcase presenter on the game show “Deal Or No Deal” prior to getting the lead role on “Suits.” She’s assigned to take care of briefcase number 24. For her, this was quite difficult.
Markle spoke with Esquire magazine, saying, “I was the ill-fated number 24 which, for some reason, no one would ever choose. I would end up standing up there forever in these terribly uncomfortable and inexpensive 5-inch heels just waiting for someone to pick my number so I could go and sit down.”
Unlike Prince William’s wife, Meghan has a sister Samantha Grant who accuses her of sneaking her way into the royal family to gain attention. Her friends also said she was living like a princess in Hollywood.
It also wasn’t a fixed marriage, because she considers herself a fan of the British royals. She even keeps Princess Diana books on her shelf.
Did you know she also worked as a freelance calligraphy writer for Los Angeles celebrities? She narrated, “I went to an all-girls Catholic school for six years during the time when kids actually had handwriting class. I’ve always had a propensity for getting the cursive down pretty well. What it evolved into was my pseudo-waitressing job when I was auditioning. I didn’t wait for tables. I did calligraphy for the invitations, for, like Robin Thicke and Paula Patton’s wedding.”
And, she is said to also be related to William Shakespeare. During her “Suits” appearances, she has run a lifestyle blog named “The Tig,” which covers everything about fashion, food, beauty, and travel. It consisted of interviews with chefs, beauty and style expert insights, product reviews, and even workout programs.
In other words, she has a name and is quite popular before her marriage with Prince Harry. You’ll also get to know the different tastes of the British royal brothers, won’t you? Markle’s best friends are award-winning tennis player Serena Williams and “Quantico” star Priyanka Chopra.
She has several other more credentials quite different from those of the other wives of royal men in Great Britain.
Looking at them, you’ll think that she might as well step back from the royal family for now and live the life she feels she will be freer. A few weeks after the announcement, social circles are now a bit calmer from these happenings. But there are more fresh updates to come forward, for certain.
